Digital Photo Management

There is a variety of commerical tools for archiving and management of digital photographs. Typically, these programs one large disadvantage - transition to another software is nearly impossible and hours spent tagging and organizing photograhs are lost. There are sophisticated solutions, such as Extensis Portfolio, but not everybody can devote time to learn this great, but somewhat complex program with steep learning curve.

Long Tail Group therefore identified the typical needs for digital photo management and developed a simple tool to stay organized.

• quickly find photos related to certain event, person, etc.
• rank photos by their quality
• access photos by date

• make date and tags part of the directory and file name
• use awk in combination copy command to extract photos tagged with certain keyword, taken on certain date or being assigned certain quality score
